When Northville Ballet's building was slated for redevelopment, owner Kathy Cooke knew she needed to find a new home for her studio. She began the search for a new space to lease, and had reached out to Thomas Duke Company's Andrew Goble for help navigating the process.
Kathy had a lease ready to sign, but something about that particular space didn't sit right with her. Sensing her hesitation, Andrew kept working the search on her behalf. Right before that lease was set to be finalized, he came across a building that had just come on the market for sale on Grand River in Novi.
Buying a building wasn't part of Kathy's original plan, but the space was too great to pass up. Andrew encouraged her to take a look and walked her through what purchasing could mean for her business compared to leasing, laying out the long-term benefits of ownership.
There was one more detail that made the decision feel like the right one: the building had previously housed an electrical company. For Kathy, it was a lightbulb moment. "Okay," she thought, "we can make an investment."
Kathy decided to purchase the building, and Northville Ballet now owns its own home rather than leasing it.
For Andrew and the Thomas Duke Company team, success isn't just about closing a deal. It's about working alongside clients to find what's genuinely best for their business, even when that means changing course along the way. As businesses grow and change, Thomas Duke Company is there through every stage, helping clients navigate the commercial real estate side so they can stay focused on what they do best.
